I noticed the sign asking for only two tours at once and reminding visitors there are businesses and residences in the alley. I am not surprised at the sign as on the way we passed a couple of largish groups really spread out and with very shouty leaders. It made me appreciate how respectful your tours are and how you limit numbers and think about where you assemble the group.

I lived in Spitalfields, Haggerston, Southwark and Wapping and the history truly oozes from those streets and alleys. London is forever fascinating. I currently live in Hitchin which has so many hidden alleys and pathways that must have been around before they built the houses surrounding them. My favourite alleys in London are the ones behind St Bartholomew the Great and I could have sworn one of them used to be called Back Passage back in the nienties!
