The mosaics were worth every penny, celebrating local and national heritage. Go up the road from the tube and see another stunning heritage site, soooo tranquil Bethnal Green School for the Juvenile Poor .
There are more mosaics on Church Road Walthamstow new but well worth a visit near Walthamstow Village

These mosaics are beautiful. Oddly, last week a seagull smashed into the back of my head in Rome!! I was at St. Peter’s, and scores of enormous seagulls were perched everywhere. Being hit out of the blue was utterly surreal, and after whacking me, it crashed to the ground, dropping a bun it had pinched!! I was really stunned, in every sense of the word. A passing wag shouted that it was like something out of the Birds. I can say that ,perhaps, I know how Tippi felt…
